Webroot is one of the leading security programs in the industry and includes a spysweeper utility which protects your PC from viruses, Trojans, malware, spyware and other online threats. It has a simple interface which many users will find easy to handle.
There‘s a prevalence of computer threats and Webroot uses a multi-layered approach for maximum protection.
Scope of Protection
Webroot Antivirus protects your PC from all angles and monitors your PC to ensure that harmful software is kept at bay. It’s a very comprehensive program which also shields your PC from annoying and unwanted programs like adware, dialers, cookies and keyloggers. These programs can be very harmful and at times work in the background, unseen and can render so much harm before you realize it.
Online fraud is another major problem nowadays, and fraudsters use sophisticated programs like keyloggers and malware to steal your personal information. So it’s ever more important to protect your PC with effective antivirus software like Webroot.
Installation
Webroot Antivirus software is very easy to install and within a few minutes your software will be up and ready for use. It walks you through the installation process which can add a few minutes to the process, but still it helps you to configure it to your requirements and ensure you encounter few problems in the future.
The installation process introduces the WARN (Webroot Automated Research Network); the proactive network approach that (if you give permission) allows Webroot to gather anonymous information that helps them keep on top of new threats. Users can set when they’d like a weekly sweep to perform, and configure the online backup.
Ease of Use
Webroot includes a simple intuitive interface that accommodates users at any level. The interface is organized with simple navigation tabs that allow quick access to the major features.
The antivirus/antispyware scans allow you different methods of sweeping your PC depending on your requirements. You can perform a full sweep which scans the complete computer including all drives (including external media), the windows registry, memory, compressed archive files, and executable programs. You can also perform a quick sweep of the most commonly threatened files.
A custom sweep is also available for sweeping the areas on your PC that you desire. The sweep can run in the background whilst you work on your PC doing other tasks; and if you need to monitor the sweep, most of the commands can be reached directly from the Windows Taskbar notification area (bottom right).
Updates
It’s important to keep your security software up to date with the latest updates because viruses and other online threats are created every hour of the day and your antivirus software is only as good as its last update. Webroot is automatically set to pick updates regularly and even initiates updates delivered immediately to your system if needs be, with Webroot VersionGuard Technology.
And even better than constant updates, Webroot includes real-time proactive protection, analyzing files and keeping an eye out for malicious behaviour that alerts the software of a threat.
Help/Support
Technical support is available free on weekdays and you can make contact by email too. There are additional online resources for help and it also has product-specific user guides and a FAQs section. Webroot also provides a helpful video for product installation.
Webroot is easy to use and you’ll find most of these support features will not be needed.
Summary
We’ve found better performing antivirus programs in our reviews, but we were impressed with Webroot’s easy to use interface, ready available updates and a helpful technical section.
Overall, it’s a very good package which includes the best antispyware protection available.
