Ease of Installation
Kaspersky offers a download version and a boxed version of its software, and installation features and procedures are quite similar. The installation is fast and straightforward and doesn’t require a restart.
To remove a virus residing in your PC before installing Kaspersky Antivirus, you have the option to download a tool to scan and clean your PC for a clean install.

Effectiveness
Here Kaspersky scores a ten for its effective removal of new unknown threats, and is usually one of the first antivirus packages to detect them in the wild. One of the main reasons Kaspersky antivirus is so effective is because of its regular updates and constant search for new security threats.
The new feature, System Watcher is worth noting for its constant monitoring and logging of application behaviour and activity. When it detects something suspicious, it stops the process and instantly informs you of the threat. You can then clean your PC by running a scan or taking the recommended steps.
Kaspersky works in real-time, protecting your PC with little interference. It works as you surf the web, download files, work with your email and access documents and doesn’t cause system slowdown.

Ease of Use
We were so impressed by the Kaspersky interface which is designed for beginners and experts alike. It is well organised and has a friendly green colour. The main navigation buttons are on the left for quick and easy access and they include Protection Center, Scan, Update Center, Tools and Upgrade.
It includes a large button at the top which notifies you if your PC is at risk with a constant red flash, and green when your PC is clean with no harmful threats. One of the best features of the interface is that you can set it and allow it to do its job while you use your PC without interference. This eliminates the need to constantly monitor it.

Updates
As always, Kaspersky antivirus is one of the best at providing updates for essential antivirus and antispyware protection. These updates are frequently available and run automatically in the background, ensuring that they don’t become too large to cause PC slowdown.
It’s also equipped to detect and locate essential updates for your PC and the vulnerability scan also checks for outdated drivers and keeps on top of crucial security updates.

Support
Kaspersky Antivirus 2012 has a number of support options for its users which include a knowledgebase, FAQ section, product manuals and active form. You can access these online or from the program interface. For direct contact, Kaspersky offers live online chat and phone support which are available 24/7.

Summary
Overall, Kaspersky antivirus is a very impressive security package and the 2012 version beats most of the competition in real-time protection, effectiveness, ease of use, and many other features. We are sure you will be pleased with this new version because of its robustness and innovative technologies designed to protect from the newest threats.
Like the 2011 version, it has been awarded top marks in recent VB100 (Virus Bulleting 100%) tests. AV Comparatives has awarded it a coveted A+ rating and West Coast Labs has verified it for antivirus, antispyware, anti-trojan and anti-malware protection.

My take on Kaspersky

Jan 19, 2012 by Mike

I downloaded a trial of Kaspersky a few months ago just to test its features and performance. It was actually the internet security program but it was the antivirus element I was interested in. It worked superbly but I was torn between it and BitDefender. I decided to go with BitDefender because of costs but I definitely recommend Kaspersky too.
